Our background
Anton Gerber has owned and managed Assegaaibosch Country Lodge since 2004 and has lovingly refurbished the charming old Hotel, adding space and style to its former glory, and creating an oasis where history meets luxury and comfort.

STYLE
The rooms have been tastefully furnished to cater for guests’ comfort. The lodge consists of 13 rooms built around a swimming pool with a wooden deck area. The manor house also comprises 6 additional rooms which can be hired separately or the house as a whole.
Some rooms look out over bright splashes of wild, colourful gardens, while others open onto the pristine pool deck with the mountains in the distance.
HISTORY
The original Assegaaibosch Hotel was built in 1866. It was a popular pit stop for Voortrekkers in need of rest. Legend has it that the cosy pub at the Hotel was a favourite with General Jan Smuts himself.

Assegaaibosch Country Lodge offers the perfect family getaway with a multitude of activities for young and old. We are proud to present our family-friendly Golf course, swimming pool, tennis & volleyball courts, pool table, dart board, table tennis, fully equipped gym, forest walks along the stream, birding spots and much more.
We offer three Conferencing options. Set in the Langkloof area with breathtaking views and an easy 130 km drive from Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) and a 107 km drive from Plettenberg Bay on the scenic R62 motorway. Accommodation is available at Assegaaibosch Country Lodge for small to large-scale team building events.

Lodge Bedrooms
The main lodge has 14 en-suite bedrooms, all with a porch, either leading to the garden or swimming pool. All bedrooms are equipped with a bar fridge / mineral water, beverage station and TV.
Manor House
Ideal for small groups, the Manor House consists of 6 large, luxurious en-suite bedrooms, fully equipped with bath and shower. Enjoy our private boma / outside kitchen, sun deck, soft lounge and pool.
Self-Catering
Assegaaibosch offers 3 lovely 2 bedroom self-catering units with well equipped kitchen and private braai facilities. Relax with your family while overlooking the golf course and enjoying the scenery.
